Grain Community
At Grain of the Silos, community sits at the centre of everything we do. Our producers are far more than suppliers, they are the heartbeat of every dish we serve and every glass we pour.
We choose to work with people who share our values, those who care deeply for the land, farm and harvest responsibly, and contribute meaningfully to the communities around them. Getting to know our producers matters to us. We learn their stories, understand their craft, and celebrate the families behind the food.
At Grain, telling those stories is just as important as serving the ingredients themselves. From farm to forest, port to wilderness, every ingredient carries the craft, care, and character of the people who bring it to life across Tasmania. This extraordinary island provides a natural pantry unlike anywhere else, and our producers help us showcase it in its truest form.
Our menus aren’t simply written by season - they’re shaped through conversations with our producers, often years in advance. Across our kitchen and bar, we work with more than 200 Tasmanian farmers, makers and producers. Some ingredients appear year-round, while others arrive only briefly, one harvest, one vintage, or a fleeting moment when nature delivers something exceptional. Some producers have been part of the Grain story since the day we opened our doors. Others have joined our community more recently. Each one adds another chapter to the story we tell on the plate and in the glass, bringing new flavours, ideas and inspiration to the table.
Our connection to community extends beyond the restaurant walls.
We’re proud to partner with organisations such as City Mission, Loaves and Fishes and OzHarvest, helping ensure good food reaches those who need it most while reducing waste wherever possible. These collaborations allow us to contribute to a more thoughtful and sustainable food future for Tasmania.
You’ll find many of our producers individually acknowledged on our menus - a small way of recognising the people who make every dish possible. We encourage you to explore their stories further: visit their cellar doors, experience their farms, discover them at local produce markets or follow their journeys online.
When you dine at Grain of the Silos, you’re not only experiencing the flavours of Tasmania - you’re supporting a community of growers, makers and artisans whose passion and dedication make those flavours possible.
